Marriage registrar at Ikoyi registry refuses to wed couple because of groom’s dreadlocks
A wedding was momentarily stalled today, Sept 29, at the Ikoyi Registry after the registrar refused to officiate the couple’s wedding because the groom was wearing dreadlocks. When he arrived for his civil wedding clad in his usual hairstyle, the registrar asked him to cover his hair as the dreadlocks doesn’t sit well with him. Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu has raised an alarm over a 15-year-old secondary school student, Chioma Chinedu who was allegedly abducted in Enugu, forcefully converted to Islam and about to be married off in Kaduna.
