Emeka Ike Sues INEC, Wike’s Aide Over Alleged Voter Data Leak, Demands ₦10bn

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Lere Olayinka, media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to court over the alleged disclosure of his voter registration details.

The actor is seeking ₦10 billion in damages, claiming that his constitutional right to privacy was violated after screenshots relating to his voter registration transfer surfaced on X.

According to court documents, Emeka Ike wants the court to hold both INEC and Olayinka liable for the alleged breach, order the removal of the post, and compel Olayinka to issue a public apology.

The lawsuit follows an earlier statement by INEC, which maintained that the incident was not the result of a system hack but rather the misuse of internal credentials.

The case has sparked fresh concerns about data privacy and the security of personal information held by public institutions.

If successful, the suit could have significant implications for how sensitive voter information is handled and protected in Nigeria.
