Oyo abduction: ‘Bandits, terrorists must go’ protest hits Ibadan [VIDEO]

Protesters led by activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, marched through Ibadan today demanding the immediate and unconditional release of schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped by bandits one month ago. The demonstration, officially titled ‘Bandits and terrorist must must go’, aimed to pressure authorities to secure the freedom of those still held captive.

The call to action gained momentum after VeryDarkMan urged residents to join the cause in solidarity with the victims. This public outcry highlights the growing frustration regarding the safety of students and the urgent need for government intervention in the ongoing security crisis.

Tensions in the region were already high following a separate protest by members of the local Hausa community. They took to the streets to condemn what they described as ethnic profiling triggered by suspicions following the abduction of over 40 people in the Oriire local government area.

The dual protests underscore the volatile atmosphere in Oyo State as citizens grapple with fear and insecurity. All eyes remain on the government to address these abduction cases and restore peace to the affected communities.
