Political Clash: ADC Chieftain Lashes Out at Kenneth Okonkwo Over Atiku-Amaechi Ticket

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply criticized Kenneth Okonkwo for withdrawing his support for presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar over the selection of former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate. Eze dismissed the actor-turned-politician’s stance, stating, “The fact remains that it is not the choice of Amaechi as Atiku’s vice president that made Barr. Okonkwo launch an unsurprising attack on Atiku. He is an emerging betrayer, a man who speaks from both sides of his mouth.”

The ADC chieftain further suggested that Okonkwo’s recent political instability stems from his fear of a defamation lawsuit filed by Peter Obi, leading him to characterize the former actor as an “aimless, toothless, rabies-infested ‘Ekeuke’ (local breed) dog on the loose.” Eze claimed that Okonkwo is “a lily-livered rolling stone, an emerging traitor without electoral value” who simply does not understand the complexities of Nigerian politics.

Defending the choice of Amaechi, Eze argued that the former governor is effectively Igbo by marriage, noting, “According to our Igbo customs, having married an Igbo woman, Amaechi is automatically a wonderful son of the South-East.” He further dismissed claims of marginalization against the South-East, pointing out that Atiku has consistently selected Igbo running mates throughout his political career, including Ben Obi, Peter Obi, and Ifeanyi Okowa.

Eze concluded by praising the Atiku-Amaechi pairing as the strongest strategy for the upcoming election, asserting that with these “refined, tested and trusted democrats,” victory is certain. He remains confident that the ticket represents the best option for both the ADC and Nigeria, despite the vocal opposition from Okonkwo.
