Obi Promises National Unity and Anti-Corruption Drive After NDC Screening
Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has pledged that his top priority, if elected in 2027, will be to unite Nigeria and restore security to the nation.
Following his successful screening by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) committee on Tuesday, Obi outlined his vision for a safer and more prosperous country.
Addressing the current state of the nation, he stated, “We want mothers to feel secure when their children go to school or work. We envision a Nigeria where travel across the country can occur without fear. Many Nigerians currently go to bed uncertain about their next meal, and this situation must be changed.”
Obi also stressed the urgent need to protect public resources and tackle systemic corruption, remarking, “Politicians are overly focused on upcoming elections while the populace is suffering. This must change.”
Regarding the integrity of the NDC’s internal processes, he noted, “The NDC is dedicated to conducting affairs properly. The aim of the screening was to ensure that candidates fulfill constitutional requirements and can provide the necessary documentation.”
When asked about his status as a potential sole candidate for the party, Obi remained cautious, saying, “I am unaware if anyone else has submitted an application. Until the party officially designates me as the only candidate, that remains uncertain.”
