DSS arraigns Malami, son over alleged terrorism financing
The Department of State Services has arraigned former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami and his son before the Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations bordering on terrorism financing.
They were brought before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on a five-count charge and both pleaded not guilty.
According to the DSS, Malami is accused of aiding terrorism financing by allegedly failing, while in office, to prosecute suspected financiers whose case files were submitted to him. The agency also alleged that Malami and his son engaged in preparatory acts linked to terrorism, including unlawful possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition without licence.
The court was further told that Malami had previously been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged fraud and money laundering.
The case has been adjourned for further proceedings.
