I am contesting the coming election as number one – Peter Obi rejects VP position

Peter Obi has indicated his intention to seek the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi made this known while addressing supporters at a campaign rally for ADC candidates during the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). He said he is aiming for the party’s top position and would not accept a subordinate role in its long-term plans.

Linking the AMAC contest to his broader ambitions, Obi urged party members and residents to support the ADC candidate. His supporters, especially the Obidient Movement, have stepped up calls for the party to adopt him as its sole flagbearer for 2027.

The ADC, however, also counts other presidential hopefuls among its ranks, including Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi.

“This coming election, support us in AMAC; it will help me. Your support in AMAC is critical to our journey. I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one. When I come back, you will see. I assure you,” Obi said.
