Nigerians Are Struggling to Eat and Move — ASUU President Tells FG
The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Chris Piwuna, has said Nigeria’s economic situation is worsening, with many citizens struggling to afford food and transportation.
Piwuna made the remarks during a meeting between ASUU and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, in Abuja on Wednesday. He urged the minister to relay the concerns to the Federal Executive Council, stressing that beyond economic hardship, security agencies must do more to protect Nigerians
He said: “Honourable Minister, when you go for the next FEC meeting, please tell your colleagues that the economic situation in the country is still hard.
“That meals are hard to come by. That transportation is still a challenge. Families are struggling to keep their bodies and souls together.
“Tell those in charge of security that we’ve noticed that they’re up and doing and we support them, and we want them to do more.”
