“I Appointed Wike Because He Delivers Results” — Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has revealed that he appointed Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) because of his proven ability to deliver projects and infrastructure.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima during the commissioning of the newly completed Airport Expressway–Kuje Township Road, Tinubu described Wike as a “proven performer” capable of turning around abandoned projects.
The President noted that the road, initially awarded in 2022, had become a major challenge for residents due to gridlock, flooding, and insecurity before his administration intervened.
“Where there was delay, we brought political will. Where there were obstructions, we paid compensation because we respect the law and we value progress,” Tinubu said.
He added that the project aligns with his administration’s commitment to extending development beyond Abuja’s city centre and improving the lives of residents in satellite towns.
In his remarks, Wike described the road as one of the most difficult projects undertaken by the FCT Administration, noting that it had become a haven for kidnappers before its completion.
“It was a death trap. It was a haven for kidnappers and hooligans. Today, that story has changed,” the minister said.
The commissioning was part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office, with several infrastructure projects being inaugurated across the FCT.
