“South Africans are wicked people, they killed my husband” — Repatriated Nigerian Woman Speaks Out
A Nigerian woman, Emilia Godwin, has vowed never to return to South Africa, alleging that Nigerians face discrimination and mistreatment in the country.
Emilia was among 258 Nigerians who arrived in Lagos following a Federal Government-assisted repatriation programme.
Speaking after her arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, she claimed that many Nigerians in South Africa live in fear and are often subjected to harassment and abuse.
“Now I am in my country and I have my mouth to speak. They are wicked. They do not like us,” she said.
Emilia disclosed that she had wanted to leave South Africa since 2014 but lacked the opportunity to do so. She added that despite her daughter being South African by birth, she has no intention of returning to the country.
She also made allegations about the treatment of Nigerians in South Africa and claimed that her late husband was a victim of the hostile environment she described.
Her comments come amid ongoing concerns over the safety and welfare of Nigerians living in South Africa, a country that has witnessed periodic tensions involving foreign nationals.
