Student Beheaded in Imo State: Police Launch Investigation

There was panic at the College of Nursing, Umulogho, in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, following the brutal murder of a female student, Wendy Achumba, on Thursday. The victim, who was undergoing post-basic training after completing her midwifery program, was reportedly discovered beheaded in her off-campus apartment.

Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday. He noted that upon receiving reports of the tragedy, police operatives and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) visited the crime scene to conduct an initial assessment. The victim’s remains have since been recovered and deposited at the morgue.

The Command has confirmed that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing is underway. As part of the ongoing effort to bring the perpetrators to justice, authorities have arrested one suspect who is currently undergoing interrogation.

“The Command is aware of the tragic incident involving the death of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, whose body was discovered in her private off-campus apartment,” Okoye stated.

The police have urged the student body and the local community to remain calm, assuring the public that the situation is being managed and that a broader manhunt for other suspects involved in the act has been initiated.
