Governor Ademola Adeleke Endorses President Tinubu for 2027 Second Term

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. Governor Adeleke framed the endorsement as a “moral and development-driven action” taken in the best interest of Osun State and the Yoruba people at large.

The Governor made these remarks on Monday, May 25, 2026, while inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan expressway. In a statement released through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the Governor emphasized that his support for the President transcends partisan considerations.

Key Highlights of the Governor’s Stance

Ancestral Ties: Governor Adeleke described President Tinubu as an “illustrious son, father, and leader” of Osun State, noting that as the governor of the President’s ancestral home, supporting him is a natural and moral obligation.

Infrastructure Collaboration: The Governor expressed his gratitude to the President for federal approvals and ongoing infrastructure projects, specifically the reconstruction of the Ilesa-Ife-Ibadan expressway. He also acknowledged federal approval for the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo and Gbongan-Akoda roads.

Non-Partisan Commitment: Despite his own political affiliation with the Accord Party, which he joined in December 2025, Adeleke maintained that his support for the President remains firm and is separate from local political tensions in Osun State. He clarified that his political grievances are directed toward Minister Gboyega Oyetola rather than the presidency.

Development Focus: The Governor stated that the federal road projects complement his administration’s own infrastructure efforts, which have seen over 300 kilometers of state roads reconstructed since 2022. He further expressed hope that the President would soon approve the reconstruction of the Osogbo-Ilesa road.

This latest declaration serves as a reaffirmation of the Governor’s consistent support for the President’s re-election bid, a stance he has maintained throughout early 2026 despite the evolving political landscape in the state
