Obi, in a post on X, described the move as a waste of about ₦600 million in public funds, stressing that the money could have been used to build classrooms, improve basic education, or empower women-led businesses. He noted that local government funds belong to ordinary Nigerians, teachers, pensioners, farmers, and market women, not for frivolous trips.
