Hope Uzodinma sworn-in as Imo Governor
Few hours after receiving the Certificate of Return from the Independent National electoral Commission, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has been sworn in as the Governor of Imo State. Uzodinma was sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state, Paschal Nnadi, on Wednesday evening. He took the oath of office and allegiance along side his deputy Placid Njoku at about 7:28 pm before a mammoth crowd at the Heroes Square Arena, in Owerri, the state capital. Boko Haram frees Five kidnapped Aid Workers
It has been Boko Haram insurgents have freed five aid workers abducted last December. According to Premium Times, their release was confirmed by security sources. The workers, two females and three males, were kidnapped on December 22 after a gang of gunmen believed to be Boko Haram terrorists ambushed their vehicle between Monguno and Damaturu. Supreme Court sacks Ihedioha, appoints Uzodinma
The supreme court of Nigeria has disapproved of Governor Ihedioha’s appointment saying he was not duly elected and so declared Uzodinma winner. A seven-man panel of justices that was led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad and Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun who delivered the lead judgment ordered the immediate withdrawal of the Certificate of Return that was issued to Ihedioha. It ordered that a fresh Certificate of Return should be issued to Uzodinma forthwith, adding that he should be sworn-in immediately as the governor of Imo state.
