
Politician Samuel Obe Ngobe Killed by Masked Gunmen in Rivers State
Samuel Obe Ngobe, a young politician and community mobilizer in Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, was murdered by two masked gunmen on Friday, May 22, 2026.
The assailants reportedly trailed Ngobe to a hotel he owned within the community. Upon arrival, the gunmen—who were masked and traveling on a motorcycle—entered the premises, located the politician, and opened fire, killing him instantly. To prevent immediate reporting of the crime, the attackers seized cell phones from hotel staff before fleeing the scene.
The Rivers State Police Command has officially confirmed the incident. Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that an investigation into the murder is currently underway to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.
The news has been met with widespread condemnation from local youth organizations in Ebubu, who have vowed to assist law enforcement in tracking down the killers. The community and the victim’s loved ones continue to express their shock and grief through social media tributes.
