“He Avoided Responsibility When It Mattered” — Wike Questions Obi’s Leadership Capacity

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has criticised Peter Obi, saying the former presidential candidate lacks the qualities needed to lead Nigeria.

Speaking on leadership and political developments, Wike stressed that effective leadership requires courage, firmness, and commitment.

“Leadership isn’t an easy journey; it needs strength, bravery, dedication, and the ability to stand by your decisions,” he said.

He cited Obi’s handling of the Labour Party crisis as an example, arguing that he failed to rise to the occasion.

“When the crisis hit the Labour Party, it was a moment for him to step up and lead, but he avoided responsibility because he couldn’t find solutions,” Wike stated.

The minister also criticised some governors for failing to show resilience during political challenges, saying such moments reveal true leadership.

“When crises come, that is when you know who can stand,” he added.

Wike further urged elected officials to remain accountable to the people, warning that their performance would determine their political future.

“Your report card will be taken back by us if you take our mandate,” he said.
