I be Yankee broke girl, the pressure to be a Lagos big girl is not for me – Nkechi Blessing

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has questioned the pressure among some Nigerians to associate with self-acclaimed “Lagos big girls” and constantly showcase their lifestyles on social media.

The actress shared her thoughts on Instagram amid the ongoing public feud involving socialites Diiadem Adeola and Dabota Lawson.

Nkechi said she has never been interested in the “big girl” lifestyle, noting that her priorities are having her own space, eating well and being able to travel.

She also challenged the assumption that people who do not flaunt their lifestyles online are struggling financially.

According to the actress, she is comfortable with her lifestyle and sees no need to constantly prove her financial status to people on social media.

Writing in pidgin English, she said, “Na una want be friends with self acclaimed Lagos big girls by force. People wey be say na online aesthetic want wound them, the moment you go close, you go too pity them,” Nkechi wrote.

“Me, I be Yankee broke girl. I no kuku identify with anything big girl, make I sha dey see food chop and ticket money to fly round d world… who get pass me no concern me,” she added.

Nkechi further said she prefers to maintain her privacy but would not hesitate to handle major financial responsibilities when necessary.

“The pressure to belong to the so called Lagos big girls can never be for someone like me that likes my space, but when matter of 100m to 200m sup we go chest am without flinching…. Cus we no dey post lifestyle dem go call us broke,” she said.
