Kwankwaso diverted billions into private account to build personal house, others – Muhyi alleges

Former head of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, has leveled serious allegations of financial impropriety against former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. In a recent video circulating on social media, Muhyi claimed that the former governor diverted billions of naira from the state treasury for personal expenses, including house construction, car purchases, and vacation costs.

The specific accusations detailed by Muhyi allege that Kwankwaso received N1 billion in December 2023 for the construction of his residence, along with hundreds of millions for office development, vehicle acquisitions, and personal medical and holiday expenses. Muhyi, who stood by his claims during an interview, directly challenged the former governor to pursue legal action if the statements were untrue, stating, “I challenge you to take me to court if what I said you have siphoned from Kano’s treasury is not true.”

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has acknowledged the gravity of these claims. Dr. Habibu Muhammad Sale Mailemo, the spokesperson for the movement, confirmed that their team is currently reviewing the allegations to determine an appropriate response, which may include filing a lawsuit against the former anti-corruption boss.

These claims arrive amidst a volatile period for political figures in the region, following a history of investigative actions by Muhyi Magaji. As the public watches for a formal response from the Kwankwasiyya camp, the situation underscores the ongoing intensity of political discourse in Kano State ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
