“Tinubu Not Responsible for Obi, ADC Crisis” — Presidency
The Presidency has dismissed claims linking President Bola Tinubu to the political challenges facing Peter Obi and the crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, the government described such allegations as unfounded, insisting that Tinubu had no role in Obi’s political decisions or the internal disputes within the ADC.
Onanuga criticised Obi’s handling of the Labour Party crisis, accusing him of failing to provide leadership before exiting the party. He also argued that Obi has struggled to build a strong political structure, relying largely on online support.
The Presidency further maintained that the crisis within the ADC is self-inflicted and urged party stakeholders to resolve their internal issues instead of blaming the President.
It added that Obi’s previous electoral performance does not guarantee future success, stressing that he must first secure a credible platform before contesting in 2027.
