Presidency to choose New Super Eagles coach

According to a recent report, the presidency has instructed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Sports Ministry to refrain from handling the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles.

The NFF has not yet announced the new head coach for the Super Eagles

Following Finidi George’s resignation, Augustine Eguavoen, the NFF’s technical director, has been appointed to manage the Super Eagles for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda next month until a permanent replacement is found.

“The appointment of the new Super Eagles coach is now beyond the NFF and sports ministry,” a source in the NFF told Complete Sports.

”The presidency is now in control of the entire process and one can just hope they will take the right decision.”

“We don’t know whether they will consult the NFF or sports ministry before coming up with a final choice.”
