The Senate Minority Caucus has rejected the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as National Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Nigerians react as IGP creates SWAT as the replacement for SARS
Nigerians have reacted to creation of a new unit named Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, as replacement for the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer DCP Frank Mba, it is expected that the unit will fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS. He added that recruitment has commenced for operatives of the new unit. Nigerians have now reacted to the announcement and also expressed their fear over the new police unit.
