COVID-19: Reopen on January 18 – NUC tells Varsities
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has directed vice-chancellors of universities to commence academic activities on January 18, in accordance with the directive of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) team on COVID-19. Public varsities have been closed since March 2020 following a strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the necessary lockdown due to coronavirus. The union suspended its strike on December 23, 2020 after the federal government met their demands. The Federal Government has directed the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to inform all Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to reverse the electricity hike tariff that was applicable in December 2020.
