N35m recovered from robbers who raided Edo banks
Thirty-five million Naira has been recovered from the armed robbers that raided four banks in Uromi, headquarters of Esan North-East Local government Area of Edo State on Thursday, February 24. It was reported that shortly after the robbers fled the scene, Ubiaja youths were able to block Ubiaja Road by the rail line, forcing the robbers to abandon the stolen money in their vehicles and flee in motorcycles. Evans, two others sentenced to life imprisonment
Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, and his accomplices – Uche Amadi and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu to life imprisonment. The court found Evans guilty of the kidnap of one Mr Donatius Dunu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. In a three-hour judgment, Justice Hakeem Oshodi found the three persons guilty of conspiracy and kidnapping. The judge, however, discharged and acquitted the other co-defendants, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, an ex-soldier; and Victor Aduba, also an ex-soldier as there was no evidence linking them to the crimes.
