Old Naira notes: Senate seeks extension of CBN deadline to June 30th, 2023
The Senate has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend its deadline for the phasing out of the old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes from January 31st to June 30th, 2023. The recommendation was made by senator Ali Ndume during plenary at the Senate chambers. FG to increase salaries of Civil Servants
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has announced that there are plans by the Federal Government to increase salaries of civil servants. He said that a Presidential Committee on Salaries chaired by the Finance Minister had embarked on a review of current pay. The government is considering a raise due to the rising cost of living caused by inflation. Ngige addressed reporters at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday. He said the advisory group is expected to come up with salary adjustments early next year. The committee is working with the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
