Senate approves VAT increase as Requested by Buhari
The request by President Muhammadu Buhari to increase value-added tax (VAT) from 5 per cent to 7.5 per cent has been approved by the Nigerian senate. It was approved by the Red Chamber after Solomon Olamilekan, chairman of the finance committee after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved an increase in VAT and forwarded the bill to the senate in September 2019.

The president said this on Thursday when he received speakers of state assemblies at the presidential villa in Abuja. Buhari signs Executive Order to eliminate the practice of open defecation
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday signed an executive order to eliminate the practice of open defecation by 2025. The order, entitled “The Open Defecation-Free Nigeria by 2025 and Other Related Matters Order” was signed at the Federal Executive Council(FEC) meeting. This was according to a statement by Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity where he stated that the the executive order takes effect immediately.
