Iran admits to erroneously shooting down Ukrainian Jet
Iran has admitted “unintentionally” shooting down a Ukrainian passenger jet, killing all 176 people on board. An investigation found that “missiles fired due to human error,” Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said. He described the crash as an “unforgivable mistake”. Nigerian Author, Chukwuemeka Ike, dies at 88
Chukwuemeka Ike, one of Nigeria’s most read novelists, has died. Ike died on Thursday in Anambra State at the age of 88. He served as an academic in various roles including as a registrar at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a visiting professor at the University of Jos. He also served as the registrar of the West African Examination Council, the first Nigerian to hold that position.
