Some popular Nigerian ‘English’ words have made it into the Oxford English Dictionary for the first time. These words are typically those which Nigerians have coined from Nigerian languages since the 1970s and 1980s. They include: Buka: a word borrowed from Hausa and Yoruba which refers to a roadside restaurant sells local food at low prices. Adeboye reacts to Abule-Egba Pipeline explosion.
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has reacted to the pipeline explosion along Ekoro Road by Baruwa axis, Abule Egba, Lagos which claimed lives and properties. It was reported that five persons were confirmed dead, while several vehicles and houses were destroyed after some suspected pipeline vandals disrupted the Atlas Cove-Mosimi Pipeline, part of the System 2B Pipeline. Currency Counterfeiters arrested by EFCC in Abuja
Two men, Badamasi Sule and Muhammad Muhammad, have been arrested for owning counterfeit Naira notes totalling about N45million by the economic and financial crimes commission of the Abuja zone.The men are said to be part of a syndicate of fraudsters operating from Gashua, Yobe State with its dispatch lodge being a hotel located in Abacha Estate, Abuja who specialize in printing fake N1,000 notes. The lagos state government has begun a law that has banned the operation of motorcycles and tricycles on highways and bridges.
