Nigeria’s debt hits N33.078trn following Buhari’s Loan approval
Nigeria’s debt profile has hit N33.078trn ($108.1bn) following the Senate’s approval of a $22.7 billion (N6.923trn) loan request by President Muhammadu Buhari. The approval pushed up the nation’s total debt from $85.4bn (N26.047trn) accumulated as at the end of September 2019. The loan was approved following the adoption of the recommendations of the report of the Senate Local and Foreign Loans Committee, presented by its Chairman, Senator Clifford Ordia. Breaking: Court Set aside ruling suspending Oshiomhole as APC National Chairman
A Federal High Court sitting in Kano State on Thursday set aside the ruling suspending Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC. A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court had yesterday ordered Oshiomhole to stop parading himself as National Chairman of the ruling party. Oshiomhole, however, appealed the ruling before Justice Lewis Allagoa-led court. Justice Allagoa, while hearing the matter set aside the ruling of the FCT High Court which suspended Oshiomhole. The judge also ordered security agencies like the police, the Department of State Service, DSS, to provide security for Oshiomhole as he resumes office.

Senate approves Buhari’s $22.7b Foreign Loan
The Senate on Thursday approved President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to borrow $22.7 billion despite objection from some Senators. The same loan he had requested for from the senate in 2019 but was rejected by the Upper Legislative Chamber under the leadership of Bukola Saraki. Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe earlier today had cautioned against considering all recommendations on the loan request at once but it was dismissed by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and it was agreed that the loan be approved.

Buhari names Justice Mensem acting Court of Appeal President
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Hon. Justice M.B. Dongban Mensem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal. Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Thursday, said the appointment was for an initial period of three months, with effect from March 6, 2020, when the incumbent President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, would statutorily retire from service. First Case of Coronavirus confirmed in South Africa
The first case of coronavirus in South Africa has been confirmed. The Toronto police department has Launched a search concerning the kidnap of a 14 year old Nigerian boy, Shammah Jolayemi. Const.
