Southern Kaduna Killings: El-Rufai blames Clerics for banditry
Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai has blamed some clerics for fanning the embers of division in the state, which has led to the killings in Southern Kaduna. He made this known when receiving a delegation led by Primate of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba. El-rufai expressed that some religious leaders had in the past 40 years been the drivers of violence and religious intolerance in the state. Speaking at the meeting, Rev. Ndukuba called on both Christians and Muslims to work to make the nation better.

Gunmen kill Bauchi Lawmaker, kidnap Wives, Son
Honourable Musa Mante Baraza, member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly has been killed by unknown gunmen on Thursday night with his wives and son kidnapped. A member of the House, Hon Abdul Ahmed Bura, who confirmed the death of Bazara also confirmed the kidnap of his wives and son adding that as at this morning, the kidnapped women and child are still with the gunmen at an unknown destination. “It is true. The Nigerian Government is making moves to dump the plastic-card means of identification and going digital. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this to state house correspondents yesterday August 13 after he, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami and the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engineer Aliyu A. Any broadcast that insults the President, Governors and Senators will be sanctioned – NBC
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has announced that it will henceforth sanction broadcast stations over messages that “insult” Nigerian leaders and elders. In the letter dated August 3 and signed by Chibuike Ogwumike, the zonal director of the NBC Lagos office, broadcast stations were warned against such messages from guests during their programmes. Ogwumike who referred broadcasters to sections of the NBC code that provides for “professional rules” against content that “denigrates the social norms, values and culture of the society”, added that holding government and leaders accountable “must not be done in abusive language”. Fake lawyer bags three years imprisonment with hard labour in Ogun (photo)
A fake lawyer, Adedeji Ebenezer Oluwagbenga, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labor and without the option of fine in Ogun state. Disclosing this to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Adedeji, who was arrested on August 5 at Itori Chief Magistrate Court where he appeared for a client, was convicted on Wednesday, August 12. NBC fines Radio Station N5M for hate speech
The Nigerian broadcasting commission, NBC has fined Nigeria Info 99.3FM N5 million over an interview with Obadiah Mailafia, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Mailafia had alleged that a northern governor was heading the Boko Haram sect, he was invited by the DSS for questioning afterwards. Allow responsible People carry Guns and weapons – Ortom
Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has called on the federal government to allow responsible Nigerians to carry guns and other weapons. Ortom made this call while presenting a paper on Tuesday during a virtual meeting convened by the Centre for Values in Leadership, in collaboration with Nigeria Governors’ Forum. The Governor expressed that this should be done as part of measures to curb the rise in insecurity in the country.
