Shoprite to leave Nigeria after 15 years
Africa’s biggest grocery retailer, Shoprite, is exiting the continent’s most populated country, Nigeria, after 15 years. The Cape Town-based retailer has started a formal process to consider the potential sale of all or a majority stake in its supermarkets in Nigeria, it said in a trading statement for the 52 weeks to end June released on Monday. 45-year-old rescued by Nigerian Police from committing suicide, gives reason
45-year-old Adeyinka Abiodun has been rescued by the Nigerian Police from committing suicide on third mainland bridge. Adeyinka tried to kill himself over a debt of N500,000 he was owing a Microfinance bank. According to reports, he had collected a N390,000 loan from a microfinance bank in March, with the intent to upgrade his wine retail business, but the business failed and the money not recoverable. Lagos State reopens Worship Centers
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday announced that worship centres in the state will be opened from Friday, August 7. He disclosed this during a briefing on COVID-19 at the State House in Marina. Mosques will be reopened next week Friday, and churches will follow suit on Sunday, August 9.
