Don’t let them waste our lives. Please help us ”- Abducted Oyo school principal and teacher plead with President Tinubu in new video

A distressing video has surfaced showing victims of the mass abduction in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, as they endure their second week in captivity. The footage features Mrs. Alamu, a school principal, making a harrowing appeal to the government to secure the release of the dozens of students and teachers held by gunmen.

The mass kidnapping occurred on May 15, 2026, when armed men targeted three schools: Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, and the shared premises of Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School in Esiele. In a direct plea for intervention, Mrs. Alamu urged President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde to prioritize negotiation over force to ensure the safety of the hostages.

“President Tinubu, Governor Seyi and every other well-meaning Nigerians, please help us. You don’t need force. All you have to do is negotiate with them to release us. We are in the cold. We are under the sun, under the rain., The children and the adults as well. Please we are begging. Don’t let them waste our lives. They are getting impatient and frustrated. Please help us. We are begging you in the name of God. Please help us. Don’t leave us here. Don’t forget us in the bush,” she stated.

The situation remains critical as authorities have confirmed that the hostages have not yet been released, despite various rumors circulating on social media. Oyo State officials, including the Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, Abayomi Fagbenro, have officially debunked claims of a rescue, urging the public to disregard misinformation and rely on official updates.

Reports indicate that seven teachers and 39 students were initially taken during the coordinated daytime raid. The abduction has sparked widespread outrage and prompted student unions, such as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), to organize solidarity protests demanding decisive action to secure the victims.

While security forces continue to comb the forest regions bordering the Old Oyo National Park, the families of the abducted remain in a state of deep anxiety. As of today, May 29, 2026, the government continues to face intense pressure to resolve the crisis and bring the captives home safely.
