“I have no time for GenZ wahala” Bashir El-Rufai divorces first wife; set to marry another woman
Bashir El-Rufai, son of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has confirmed that he has divorced his wife of five years, Halima Nwakaego Kazaure. The couple, who were married on November 21, 2020, have officially parted ways, with Bashir already preparing to marry a new fiancée later this year.
The news surfaced during the recent Eid celebrations when Bashir posted about his attraction to a woman on the social media platform X. When followers questioned his marital status, he openly admitted to the divorce. Explaining his decision, he stated, “I divorced my first wife, (l have no time for Genz wahala). The difference is clear. I had no clue Nupe women treat their husbands like emperors. Loving it.”
Speculation regarding turmoil in the marriage had circulated previously. Halima appeared to hint at domestic unhappiness during the public controversy surrounding Frank Edoho and his wife, Sandra. At the time, she posted a video of herself in her car listening to a song by the singer Chike, adding the caption, “Chike dey for you.”
Bashir’s announcement has sparked significant conversation online regarding his transition into a new relationship. Despite the controversy and the nature of his public comments, he remains firm that he has moved on and is committed to his new partner.
The dissolution of the marriage marks the end of a five-year union that originally brought together two prominent political families. With his sights set on a new marriage, Bashir appears focused on what he describes as a better-suited dynamic for his life.
This development follows a period of private tension that had been subtly referenced on social media by both parties before becoming public knowledge this week. As the situation unfolds, observers continue to track the social media commentary surrounding the high-profile separation.
