Cubana Chief Priest Reaffirms Loyalty to President Tinubu
Celebrity barman and socialite Cubana Chief Priest has publicly declared that his commitment to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains “undiluted and unshakable.” Despite failing to secure the party’s ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency, he insists that his political dedication to the ruling party is stronger than ever.
The socialite explained that his foray into politics was born from a desire to transition from online activism to direct governance. He expressed frustration with the limitations of social media, stating, “What we have to do at this moment is to go beyond what we used to do. What was done over the years was make a post, make a video, people are going to like and comment… but after that, what happens? Nothing happens.”
Determined to play a larger role, he highlighted his professional background as a motivation for entering the political arena. “I felt I could go beyond social media posting. I have the energy to participate, I have the energy, money and experience to participate. I felt I could help make a difference at the table where decisions are being made instead of waiting for those decisions to be made and I go ranting on social media,” he noted.
He further justified his support for the APC by pointing to governance improvements in his home state of Imo. He argued that the current administration’s economic policies, specifically the removal of the fuel subsidy, have granted state governors more financial independence. “A lot of governors now are able to do a lot of things in their states without borrowing money. They have opportunities to get this money that’s being gotten back from subsidy to help them build,” he claimed.
Regarding his recent primary race, the businessman clarified that he voluntarily stepped down following consultations with party leaders concerning zoning arrangements. This explanation follows his earlier, conflicting admission during a live stream where he suggested that President Tinubu might harbor reservations about him due to his past work for Labour Party candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 elections.
Ultimately, Cubana Chief Priest maintains that his primary goal is to contribute his resources and influence toward national development. Despite the setbacks and public speculation, he remains firm in his decision to align with the APC and continue his active involvement in the party’s mobilisation efforts.
