“We Must Move Forward” — Bala Mohammed Dumps PDP for APM

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), citing internal crisis within the party.

Announcing the move, Mohammed described the PDP as “headless” and said his decision followed weeks of consultations aimed at securing a stable political platform ahead of 2027.

“Our hearts remain with the PDP, but politically we must move forward,” he said.

He also referenced the Supreme Court ruling on the party’s leadership dispute, noting it produced no clear winner and further exposed internal divisions.

The governor accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of working against the party and hinted that his defection could trigger a wider shift among PDP loyalists.

Mohammed confirmed plans to contest the Bauchi South senatorial seat in 2027 under his new party.
