“Stop Reintegrating Terrorists” — Sowore Slams Security Strategy, Urges Voters to Act
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised the alleged reintegration of former terrorists into society, warning that such policies could worsen Nigeria’s security crisis.
In a report by Sahara Reporters, Sowore argued that allowing individuals linked to violent groups back into communities, especially without transparency, poses serious risks to national safety.
He questioned the logic of reintegration programmes, suggesting they may undermine the sacrifices of security personnel and victims of terrorism. He also raised concerns about trust, accountability, and the potential for recidivism among those reintegrated.
Sowore further called on Nigerian voters to hold leaders accountable, urging them to prioritise security and governance issues when making electoral decisions.
The comments come amid ongoing debates about how best to address terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria, particularly whether rehabilitation or stricter enforcement offers a more sustainable solution.
