Electoral Amendment: Akpabio, NASS members succeeded with their evil plans – Adeyanju
Activist Deji Adeyanju has strongly criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the National Assembly for allegedly pushing through a plan to allow the manual transmission of election results. He described the legislative move as an “evil plan” that threatens the integrity of the voting process.
Adeyanju argued that reverting to manual transmission directly undermines the progress made through recent electoral reforms. He believes this shift could undo years of effort aimed at making Nigerian elections more credible and technologically advanced.
Following the conclusion of the “Occupy National Assembly” protest, the activist expressed deep disappointment that the demonstration ended despite the legislative outcome. He suggested that the lawmakers’ decision marks a significant step backward for the country’s democratic journey.
In a series of posts on X, Adeyanju warned that providing a manual option for result transmission would compromise transparency. He noted that such a change significantly weakens public confidence in the overall electoral system.
Expressing his frustration online, he wrote: “So the protest is over despite the fact that Akpabio and his Hallelujah boys succeeded with their evil plans of manual transmission of results. Na wa ooo.”
He further emphasized the gravity of the situation regarding the legal framework of the country. “If manual transmission is in the Electoral Act as an option then Akpabio & his Hallelujah boys in NASS have finished Nigeria,” he stated.
Adeyanju concluded his critique by highlighting the perceived loss of institutional progress. He wrote: “It’s all over. All the electoral reform gains reversed just like that.”
