Fubara, Wike meet with Tinubu in Abuja

The long-standing political storm in Rivers State may finally be easing following a significant late-night intervention by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Reports from The Nation indicate that the President held high-stakes discussions with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and other key leaders to broker a truce.

While the specific details of the agreement remain under wraps, a notable gesture of peace followed the meeting as Governor Fubara reportedly accompanied Wike back to his residence in Guzape, Abuja.

According to the report, the reconciliation took an emotional turn as Fubara allegedly apologized to the Minister, vowing never to show him disrespect again in the future.

This meeting is being viewed by many as a potential turning point for the state’s political landscape, which has been fractured by a bitter rivalry between the two leaders for months.

The intervention marks President Tinubu’s latest effort to stabilize the strategic oil-rich state, following previous attempts that had struggled to hold under the pressure of local power struggles.

While supporters on both sides await the long-term impact of this truce, the image of Fubara and Wike leaving the Villa together suggests a rare moment of unity in the embattled state.
