FCT projects: Tinubu never abandoned us, provided funds on time – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday said President Bola Tinubu has never abandoned the FCT Administration under his leadership.
This was as Wike said Tinubu’s administration always released funds on time to enable his ministry to carry out its duties.
He spoke during the commissioning of the Body of Benchers Building in Abuja to mark Tinubu’s third year anniversary.
According to Wike: “The President of the Nigerian Bar Association and Hank you for coming for the first time to our programme. Other legal luminaries that are here, Permanent Secretaries, and officials of the FCTA.
“I thank you for attending the 19th day of our commissioning, since June 10th you have always attended our commissionings and it would be nice being July 17th.
“We want to thank you (Mr President) for your support and the opportunity you have given to us, you have never abandoned us in terms of the release of funds to enable us to our work.”
He recalled how the former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Aromolo, SAN, approached him to provide a structure for the organization.
Wike said: “Let me say that the time the former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Aromolo came to see me and said he was making me a member of the infrastructure committee, I said tell me what you came for you know that I’m a politician because I would not attend as I won’t have the time. He said where they are is inadequate and they want to have an annex.
“I said the budget has been passed and there is nothing we can do, he said we must find a way.”
Retorting, Wike said: “I said if you are a prayer warrior pray while I meet Mr President and see what we can do. Luckily he prayed very well and Mr President said put it in the supplement budget and that was approved by the National Assembly.
“I know that this one and that of the Federal High Court were approved by the National Assembly, even though the Federal High Court did not take advantage, so we have to use that money to build other roads.”
