“I used to mock men with many wives” – Ooni of Ife
The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has shared a personal reflection about his life as a polygamist, admitting that he sometimes feels shy whenever he thinks about the number of wives he now has
According to the monarch, there was a time in his younger years when he used to criticise men who had many wives. He said he could never understand how such men managed their homes and relationships.
But speaking candidly, the traditional ruler admitted that life eventually placed him in the same situation he once questioned.
“I am always shy with the numerous wives I have because when I was younger, I used to abuse people with many wives and wonder how they cope, but see me doing same today,” he said.
The Ooni of Ife is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential traditional rulers and has often spoken publicly about culture, leadership and family life.
