E-transmission: APC afraid despite controlling 31 states – Dino Melaye

Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is showing signs of deep unrest as the 2027 general elections draw closer. He argued that the party’s massive presence across Nigeria, including its control of 31 governorship seats, has not translated into genuine political confidence.

Melaye pointed to a glaring irony in the ruling party’s current operations regarding technology and elections. He mocked the party for embracing digital tools for its internal membership registration while simultaneously resisting the mandatory electronic transmission of general election results.

The former lawmaker suggested that this resistance is a clear indication of anxiety within the APC leadership. According to Melaye, the party appears fearful of a transparent process despite its overwhelming control of state governments and federal institutions.

In a candid post on X, he highlighted the hypocrisy he perceives in the party’s stance. “APC is doing e-registration for members, but doesn’t want e-transmission of results. With 31 governors, dem still dey fear,” he wrote.

Melaye also linked the Senate’s recent refusal to back electoral amendments to a larger crisis brewing within the ruling party. He warned that the refusal to institutionalize real-time result transmission signals a lack of internal stability and a move away from electoral integrity.

The activist politician predicted a dramatic end for the party if it continues to block reforms that would make every vote count. “Implosion is imminent and explosion is guaranteed. End of the road. Votes must count,” he stated emphatically.

His remarks align with recent protests in Abuja, where citizens have criticized the National Assembly for rejecting the Electoral Act amendment. Many Nigerians remain concerned that without mandatory electronic transmission, the credibility of the 2027 polls will be compromised.
