IPOB Ends Sit-At-Home In South East
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the “official and permanent” cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home order across the South-East, effective Monday, February 9, 2026.
According to IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful, the decision came as a direct instruction from the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently serving a life sentence at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.
Powerful stated that Kanu intends to ensure the restoration of normal life in the region, particularly regarding the education of children and the survival of local businesses.
“This directive comes directly from Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu himself, who has once again staked everything on the line to ensure that our children return to school every Monday and that our people go about their lawful businesses without fear, intimidation, or molestation,” Powerful said.
The group issued a stern warning to anyone attempting to continue enforcing the shutdown, labeling such individuals as enemies of the Biafran cause and the people.
“Such persons are enemies of our people and the Biafran cause. They will be pursued to the ends of the earth and confronted until they are completely defeated,” the spokesperson added.
The move followed a separate announcement by the Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Liberation Army, where a commander known as “Angel De Makeup” confirmed in a video that “Monday sit-at-home is cancelled from today.”
