”Wizkid is my Padi, lets mend fences” – Yeni Kuti Reacts to Wizkid, Seun Kuti Drama
Yeni Kuti, first daughter of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has reacted to the online clash between Wizkid and her brother, Seun Kuti.
The feud began after Seun repeatedly called out Wizkid’s fanbase for comparing the singer’s legacy to Fela’s. It later escalated when Wizkid fired back, telling Seun: “I’m bigger than your father,” a comment that triggered widespread backlash online.
Speaking on TVC’s Your View on Thursday, Yeni said she refused to join the fight because Wizkid is her close friend.
“I love Wizkid a lot… Wizkid is my padi,” she said, adding, “When two giants fight, it’s the grass that suffers.”
Yeni also called for peace, urging Nigerians to stop dragging Fela’s name into personal battles and instead focus on celebrating the late icon.
“Let’s mend fences, we are one people,” she said, warning that the drama damages Nigeria’s image, not just Fela’s legacy.
She added that the continued mention of Fela decades after his death is proof of his impact, saying Nigerians should respect his legacy and “leave the man that has done his own and gone.”
