Tinubu’s Record Enough to Secure 2027 Re-Election — Shettima
Vice President Kashim Shettima has said President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office is strong enough to guarantee his re-election in 2027.
Shettima made the remarks while speaking at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
According to the Vice President, elections are not won through online debates or nostalgia but through solid political structures, credibility and effective leadership.
“Elections are not conducted on Facebook or Twitter. They are won by coalitions, credibility and conviction,” he said.
Shettima argued that Tinubu’s political experience and governance record put him ahead of any potential challenger, adding that anyone contesting against the president in 2027 is already setting themselves up for defeat.
“With the experience of our president as our shield and the lessons of the past as our guide, 2027 is not a gamble; it is a responsibility,” he said.
He, however, acknowledged that Nigeria remains a democracy where every qualified citizen has the right to contest elections. Shettima added that the APC is heading into 2027 with confidence, citing the party’s leadership strength and record in governance.
