Crime in FCT has drastically reduced – Minister, Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says crime in Abuja has significantly dropped under the current administration, despite recent incidents drawing public concern.

Speaking during his monthly media parley in Abuja on Friday, October 24, Wike insisted available security data shows a noticeable decline in crime across the city.

“It is our responsibility to protect life… If you give us statistics, you will see that security agencies have done well. The rate of crime has drastically reduced,” he said.

He challenged critics to provide credible figures to support claims of rising insecurity, noting that crime exists in every society but can be managed.

Wike’s remarks come in the wake of the death of Arise TV presenter Sommie Maduagwu, who was killed in a robbery attack in the Katampe area of Abuja, a case that sparked fresh concerns over safety in the capital.
