Two-year-old girl trafficked for N100,000 in Abuja rescued in Aba
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for just N100,000.
According to a statement released on Friday, the rescue took place on May 8, 2025, after the Abia State Command of NAPTIP acted on information following the arrest of a suspected trafficker by the Department of State Services (DSS). The child, now temporarily named Chiamaka Favor for her protection, was reportedly taken from Abuja in February and sold to an undisclosed buyer in Aba.
“The suspected trafficker, arrested by DSS Abia and handed over to NAPTIP, is alleged to have worked with three trafficking syndicates from Abuja and sold the child to a buyer for ₦100,000,” the agency said.
Authorities have initiated a nationwide search for the biological parents or relatives of the rescued girl.
NAPTIP is appealing to the public for any relevant information that could help reunite the child with her family and is urging individuals to contact the agency without delay.
