Stan Alieke, the legal counsel for embattled singer Speed Darlington, has stated that it is illegal for landlords to unilaterally increase house rent.

Alieke explained that Nigerian courts have consistently ruled in numerous cases that rent increases without consultation or renegotiation with the tenant are unlawful and invalid.
