I rejected Adeyanju’s plea to become PDP National Publicity Secretary. He has no job and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist – Wike reacts to protest led by activist against demolitions in Abuja

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has addressed criticism from activist Deji Adeyanju regarding recent demolition activities in Abuja, particularly at the Ruga settlement along Airport Road. Adeyanju, joined by activist Vincent Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan), led a protest against Wike’s actions, calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and remove the minister. Protesters carried placards decrying the demolitions and labeling them unjustified.

Responding to journalists, Wike dismissed Adeyanju’s objections, claiming they were rooted in personal grievances and a desire for attention. He alleged that Adeyanju’s criticism was motivated by frustration over his unsuccessful bid for a role within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“I saw one young man, they call him Adeyanju. He is from Kogi State,” Wike said. “This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, and I said no. I said he won’t be, and he was not. I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist. He has no job and that’s why he decided to turn to a civil society activist.”
