Tinubu has told me why I was sacked and it has nothing to do with performance – Former Minister
Former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Gwarzo, recently addressed his unexpected dismissal by President Bola Tinubu, clarifying that it wasn’t due to poor performance or misconduct.
Speaking with BBC Hausa, Gwarzo shared his skepticism over the given reason—an imbalance in Kano North appointments—suggesting other influences may have been at play. He also questioned the choice of his replacement, Yusuf Ata, arguing that Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Kano’s 2023 governorship candidate, should have been prioritized for the position.
“If the ministerial slot is indeed meant for Kano Central, we have our 2023 governorship candidate, who is also our leader in Kano Central. Why not consider giving him the position?” Gwarzo asked, advocating that Gawuna be offered the role first unless he declined.
