President Tinubu orders immediate release of minors arrested for participating in End Bad governance protest
President Tinubu has ordered the immediate release of all minors arrested and prosecuted for their alleged involvement in the #EndBadGovernance protests held nationwide in August. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Iris, announced this during a briefing in Abuja on November 4.
He stated that President Tinubu also called for an investigation into the law enforcement officers responsible for the minors’ arrest, detention, and prosecution, with disciplinary actions for any found guilty. Additionally, the President directed the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to ensure the welfare of the minors.
This decision follows public outcry over viral videos showing the malnourished state of the minors, some of whom fainted while appearing in court.
