You know how your predecessor was removed, your ministry is crucial – Ndume warns new humanitarian minister
Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has urged the newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, to utilize financial technology to improve the Federal Government’s assistance to vulnerable communities.
Speaking during Yilwatda’s screening, Ndume, a seasoned legislator with over two decades of experience, referenced the factors that led to the departure of former Minister Betta Edu earlier this year. He highlighted the critical role of the ministry in addressing the needs of over 60% of Nigerians living in poverty and encouraged Yilwatda to modernize support mechanisms for more effective outreach.
“The humanitarian ministry is the most crucial today,” Ndume stated. “With a worsening humanitarian crisis, you know the reasons behind your predecessor’s exit. My question is, what measures will you take to tackle this emergency?” Ndume asked. “Your expertise in ICT is a plus. How do you plan to employ this in addressing these pressing issues?”
